Belmont Park - This year's
racetrack of the Breeders' Cup
The Breeders' Cup Championship continues to grow in
popularity because of its prestige and keen level of
competition.Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky, holds
the records for both attendance and total betting. The
renowned racecourse attracted 80,452 spectators in 1998 and
when Breeders' Cup came back to Louisville in 2000, over
$108 million was wagered.
But the Breeders' Cup
Championship is known beyond the borders of the particular
host track. NBC has televised the event since its inception,
providing a degree of air time unprecedented in Thoroughbred
racing. The network's coverage has won Eclipse Awards for
National Television Achievement and the Outstanding Live
Sports Special of 1992 at the 14th Emmy Awards for Sports
annual ceremony.
The buildup to the Breeders' Cup begins well in advance of
the Championship day. NTRA's "Racing to the Breeders' Cup"
on ESPN gets the momentum started in early summer and
continues through mid-October. The nationally televised
series consists of dozens of stakes races at major tracks
across the country and serves as racing's version of the
playoffs.

Triple
Crown Horse Betting
Belmont Park - This year's
racetrack of the Breeders' Cup
The Breeders' Cup Classic is
considered the most important race in the series of
Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships event. This
race has produced nine Horses of the Year in its first 20
running.
The Kentucky Derby is the
first leg of the run for the Triple Crown, horse racing's
greatest honor. To win the Triple Crown, a horse must first
win the Kentucky Derby, then the Preakness Stakes, and then
the Belmont Stakes.
Only eleven horses have won the elusive Triple Crown. The
grueling schedule of three races in 5 weeks at longer
distances than most have run previously in their careers is
probably the most difficult task any horse will face in his
racing career. Affirmed in 1978 still remains the last
Triple Crown winner. Sadly, the last Triple Crown winner
left alive, Seattle Slew, passed away on May 7, 2002.

Belmont
Stakes Betting and Streaks
There is a basic principle with streaks. If you bet against
a streak, you can only win once but you could lose many
times. If you bet with a streak, you can only lose once but
you could win many times. Bettors often violate this
principal when they are on a winning or losing streak. If
they are on a winning streak, they will decrease the amount
they bet, figuring the streak can't continue. And, if they
are on a losing streak, they'll increase the amount they
bet, figuring the streak will end. In both cases they're
betting against the streak, which is exactly what they
shouldn't do.
Belmont
Stakes Horse Racing
The horses to look out for in Lightweights are those whose
overall form shows that they are capable of winning,
regardless of the class of race in which they compete.
Belmont Stakes Horse Betting Tip
Changes. Barn changes should be considered. A claimer moving
from a modest stable to a successful one will be worth
considering. Horses often will respond to the change in
surroundings. Other factors, such as a change in feeding or
in horseshoeing, may result in a rapid turnaround as well.
